Lithology and Thickness

It consists of interbedded variegated sandy-aleurolite-clay rocks with a thickness of 30-90 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

They conformably or with slight erosion overlie the deposits of Berriasian, Middle Aptian or Upper Hauterivian - Middle Aptian.

Upper contact

They are conformably overlain by the deposits of the Cenomanian and Turonian.

Regional extent

In the Zeravshan-Gissar, Karategin, Vakhsh, Zaalaik, and Darvaz districts, this formation corresponds to Akkapchigai horizon

Fossils

The above-mentioned lithology in which sharply impoverished organic remains similar to those found in the Akkapchigai Fm, as well as remains of brackish water ostracods (Andreev, 1969b; Dzhalilov, 1971) have been discovered.
